would throwing in interval training 2 days per week between weights days cause any lack of prgress with the weights? the interval training i have followed before involves short sprints on the treadmill with short breaks in between eg. 2mins on 30 secs off. would the energy used here create the need to reaaaaally increase the calorie intake to keep making gains with the weights?

would doing one hinder my progress in the other?

any help would be appeciated :wos_sport3:

I may have mentioned in a previous thread that it is possible to keep building muscle, but you do need to make sure you get enough food in, to allow you to keep building muscle.

general health guidelines are to eat 0.7g of protein for every kg of your body weight (fat free mass). however if your trying to build muscle you should take between 1.2-1.5g of protein per kg of your body weight.

In fact athletes trying to increase their muscle mass may take up to 2-2.2g of protein per kg of body weight.

The protein is what helps your muscles repair and grow following training, and so extremely important you eat get them in following your training. Carbs are a little harder to measure, because everyones activtity levels are different. If you do not eat enough carbs then your body will start using the protein and prevent further muscle growth.
A fitness intructor or personnal trainer may be able to help with measuring your weight and body fat and give you guidance as to how much carbs to eat.

Remember Train, eat, sleep and grow!!
