Is anyone else getting slow response from loading pages and sometimes timeouts on their sites.

When, how often, for how long, etc has this happened to you?

Is it only your site when it happens? i.e. what other sites have you checked at the time yours seems to be slow?

As soon as I posted the message, everything started working fine.

But I updated a few more things and about an hour later it started happening again.

I tried opening up Newtownbreda's site and it wasn't as bad but still had a few timeouts.

It only really happened last night and it was every so often all night. It was just a real pain as I had a lot of updates and when I went to add them I got a timeout and had to start again.

Hopefully it will be back to normal today, I will keep you informed.

I've seen an occassional patch where our main site seems very slow (it's on an identical box) but it never lasts for long - usually minutes.

It's never been enough to worry me and I've put it down to possibly an update or something being done on the box or datacentre. Or possibly the Bank of Ireland box (it's in beside our boxes) hogging the bandwidth while it sucks down all the money!

If it becomes persistant or you see any sort of pattern please let me know and I'll have it investigated. Check first if it affects other sites not hosted locally to make sure it's not an ISP issue. I've had that happen here several times and it's clearly at high-load times (like just after schools get out). I may have to give in and go for a low contention ratio line - that's probably what the ISP are playing at anyway :1 (43): .
