Can't connect to FTP [Archive]

For some reason I can't connect to my sites FTP server using the details I got in the viSport e-mail.. I was able to connect and upload no problem last month, but I've not been able to get on to it today or last night.

I am getting error 530 which is incorrect login details, although I am using the standard username and password which I used to get onto this forum..

Anyone able to help or know whats goin on?

I just connected to it no problem using the info from the copy Welcome email you got. Can you PM me the username and password you are using?

Got that. Details look fine to me.

I'm assuming you're using IE to connect by ftp and when I try that it's not letting me in either. Not sure whay that is at the minute, but I connected using ftp client software no problem.

I'll ask the server tech if he has any ideas. In the meantime do you want to try using an ftp client to connect? Easier than IE anyway in my opinion.

The easiest thing you could try is to use the File Manager in the Direct Admin Control Panel. It effectively gives you ftp access and is pretty flexible. I'd rather use it than IE anyway. Tutorials for using the File Manager are in that second link above too. You need to connect to the VPN first, to get access to Direct Admin remember.

I used 2 different FTPs to try and connect and niether work!
Is the direct admin my domain name with ":2222" after it? I tried that too and it doesn't come up.. I'm baffled lol

Tried the Direct Admin there again and I am on. Cheers.. If you can find out what is up with the FTP i'd be greatful!

Smart FTP and Ace FTP.. When I could get on last month I was using CuteFTP but my trial ran out.. Don't know why they weren't working though as I was using the same log-in details with these 2 as I was with Cute

The server tech can't see any reason why there should be a problem with ftp. He was also able to connect with no problem.

There is one other free ftp client you could try, which is Filezilla. You can get it HERE (http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla/).

He did make one suggestion ... had you connected to the secure VPN connection before trying to access the site by ftp? You shouldn't really need to, but it's worth trying.

Yeah, I was connected to it.. its strange alright.. I will try Filezilla when I get home... if it still doesn't work i'll stick to the DirectAdmin web uploader.
