Bit of a puzzler this. I tried it again there (sorry - think I just kicked you from the sitebuilder again :1 (56): ) and it's still working fine for me. I was able to undo the change I made last week, plus make another small change to test it.

I've just asked the server tech to have a look. He's going to try accessing from where he is to see if he can see why.

When I was editing it did freeze for about 15 seconds, with the little hour-glass icon showing for the cursor, but it cleared again and was fine after that.

Are the 3 PC's you tried on broadband or modem? It's a bit of a drag on a modem - maybe even not practical. Do any of the PC's have Norton firewall or anything like that on them? Clutching at straws a bit there as it's hard to imagine all 3 having the same issue, and it worked for you before.

Are you running any flavour of Norton on these PC's by any chance? Anti Virus or Firewall?

Norton is prone to strange decisions at times, and we've had some sitebuilder issues before that have been traced to Norton. The good news is that it's easy to fix in that case, as disabling Norton has cured the problem immediately (I have another thread or two on here about Norton and some free alternatives).

Normally I'd expect Norton to either block sitebuilder completely or be ok with it, but I expect it depends on exactly what it's doing.

There have been a few Norton issues in the last week or two, and these have been with people who were previosuly connecting ok. I therefore suspect that Norton have released an update that has started blocking things it previously was ok with.

Worth a try anyway. If you don't have Norton but DO have some other sort of Anti Virus or Firewall sftware try disabling it to see if that cures the sitebuilder issue. Windows Firewall should be ok - I've had no problems reported with that.

Same is happening to me - but don't think it is anything to do with the anti virus software.

Everytime I try to publish I get a message about sitemap. When I try to publish without a sitemap it just freezes.

Site is currently down.

HELP!!!

Server tech guy is looking into this now. Looks like maybe some server software was updated and changed something. Not sure, but they're looking now.

Did the same thing to my test site when I tried to rebublish that as a test - not only does it not publish, but it's taking the site off line.

Let you know as soon as it's sorted.

They're still trying to find this. Can you tell me exactly when was the last time you published your site successfully?

We think maybe there has been a software update on the server, which has reset some permissions to default values. Some of the server sftware updates automatically, so if we can pin down when the problem started it would help them find what changed since then.

Paul as per the message on ILF. Look forward to hearing from you. Sorry for all the trouble.

Sorted now. I republished your site to get it back online now, in case you don't pick up this message for a while.
