Thought it would be useful to provide links to some of the sites, particulaurly some that used the Sitebuilder package to build the site. I'll just pick a few out that I think demonstrate some different approaches or features that may be on interest to other users.

If anyone wants to know how anything on a site was done they should post here and ask - hopefully the site owners will be happy to share knowledge for the benefit of all.

Here's something a bit different at nifootball (http://www.nifootball.co.uk/joomla/i...pper&Itemid=65)

Here they've used the Joomla Content Management system to build their site. The Joomla programme is available as a simple installation procedure using the 'Installatron' package that's been installed on the main Control Panel for each site.

It's a pretty versatile website structure that includes a lot of features such as News management, but may be a bit of a handful for those starting out on their first website. However, for those with some experience or who are willing to have a go it may be a very quick way to a very functional website. More details about Joomla HERE (http://www.joomla.org/content/view/12/26/).

You can follow some of the issues encountered by nifootball, and how they dealt with them, on THIS (http://www.visport.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=32) thread.

Another site that is using the sitebuilder is www.tayfc.com (http://www.tayfc.com)

Like Northern Ireland Gymnastics they had no website experience at all yet I think the site will be clean and user friendly. Still early days but I like the boxes they're using for the images and articles.

A few more sites using the sitebuilder well.

Castle United FC (http://www.castleunitedfc.com)

Donegal Celtic Ladies FC (http://www.donegalcelticladies.com) (as far as I could tell they put this site together and online within about 24 hours of their hosting being set up. Fast footwork!)

Glentoran Community Trust (http://www.gctni.com/)

A more unusual sport, and not using the sitebuilder

Falcon Paragliding and Hanggliding Club (http://falcon-club.net/)

It can take a while and then one day it just all seems to come together and you get that warm glow inside as you proudly watch the counters click upward and you think to yourself. I made that.

Kilroot Rec have included a great idea in their site - they're displaying their league table by drawing it from www.nifootball.co.uk (http://www.nifootball.co.uk).

Easier to explain if you look: http://www.kilrootrecfc.com/_mgxroot/page_10817.php

That league table was added simply be getting some php code from nifootball.co.uk. Now, as nifootball updates the league table on their site, it's automatically updated on kilrootrec.

If your football team is in one of the leagues covered by nifootball get in touch with Scott there and ask about the code you need. The thread below covers how to include it in your site. It isn't quite a tutorial as we worked it out as we go through the posts but you'll get there ok. Tht thread relates to integrating the table using the sitebuilder - if you aren't using the sitebuilder it can still be done but the tutorial isn't quite as appropriate.

A few things that caught my eye (apart from the spinning logos :) ) ...

The guestbook would be better if it was integrated into the site. You should be able to do that using the iFrame feature. More info here http://www.visport.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=16

The Home page (not the intro page) is left justified, whereas the rest is centered. Centered looks best imo. Not sure how you get one page justified different to the rest of the site, but looks like it should be easily fixed.

The marquee text inviting to click for more news ... doesn't link to anything.

Judging by the way you've got into the sitebuilder already I doubt it'll take you long to sort those.

One other general tip for anyone using the sitebuilder. If you're wanting to experiment with something on your site but don't want to risk messing up what you've done (i.e.e a VERY sensible approach!) - make a copy of your site and experiment with the cloned site to test it. Once you're sure what you're ding you can make the changes to your main site with confidence.

To clone the site look at the intro screen when you log into the sitebuilder. Across to the right, along the line that probably says 'Main site' one of the icons is a 'Clone' feature (hover the mouse over them to see which one). When you click on that it'll give you the option to clone your site into a directory you can name. I normally just use 'test' as the directory name. A click will clone your site into that directory ... www.yourdomain.co./test (http://www.yourdomain.co./test) in this example.

You can then go into that site, make changes, publish it, then check out the results using the /test address.

Once you've done with it and it's probably best to delete that test site again. Just set it up again when you want to experiment again. That way your copy will have all the latest tweaks from your main site in there.

dundelafc.com-finally here!

Some thing I noticed when I went on your site and I found it quite annoying at first is the lack of pages.

You have a lot of hidden pages, pages which we can only access if we click the links that you have given us. Don't do this, it will decrease the popularity of your site. If you are wanting to add pages such as your Wilgar Watch, don't be hiding them, add them to the links bar or else they will be hard to find.

Other than that well done. I'll see if I can photoshop you a banner in the next coming days and weeks.

Lot of work gone into that. You've been busy reading the help pages, or busy experimenting - good use of iFrames.

Good luck with it.
